Google Ads agency account vs. MCC: what you actually need

Understand advertiser accounts, Google Ads manager accounts (MCC), and agency services. Compare access, campaign work, billing and onboarding.

The short answer

What to know before you begin

An advertiser account runs the campaigns. A manager account, also called an MCC, helps manage linked accounts. An agency service is the agreement about who handles setup, funding and campaign work. These are three different things.

Separate the account, the management tool and the service

A Google Ads advertiser account is where campaigns, ads, budgets and performance records live. An MCC lets an agency or multi-account team manage linked accounts from one place. Creating an MCC is not the same as purchasing an agency service.

  • Advertiser account: the campaigns and their records.
  • Manager account: access and administration across linked accounts.
  • Agency service: the work and responsibilities agreed with a provider.

Choose the support, not just an account label

If you already have a media buyer, compare account setup, access, funding and support. If you need someone to plan and operate campaigns, ask for that work explicitly. With AdsGorilla, Self Managed leaves campaign decisions with your team; Fully Managed adds the campaign work agreed before onboarding.

Confirm ownership and access before you commit

Ask which advertiser account you will use, how your team will access it and who can change permissions. Record the arrangement for reporting access and for ending the service. Access to one advertising account does not imply access to every account managed by the agency.

  • Identify the account and business it will advertise.
  • Agree who can run campaigns, see billing and manage access.
  • Confirm what can be retained or exported if the service ends.

Treat billing as a separate agreement

An MCC label does not tell you the service fee, payment method or funding process. Ask for the requested ad credit, the fee added to it and any separate payment charges. AdsGorilla’s funding guide explains why a submitted request is not yet verified, available credit.

Keep platform requirements in the decision

An agency account service is not a promise that ads will be approved or restrictions waived. Check your offer, destination, required verification and measurement before launch. If you are dealing with an existing restriction, disclose it for review rather than assuming a new account resolves it.
