The short answer
What to know before you begin
Spark Ads use an organic TikTok post as the ad creative. Establish permission for the intended post and identity, check that the authorization covers the planned campaign, and select the authorized content in the creation flow available to your account. A valid code is not ad approval or evidence of campaign delivery.
Who this is for
Advertisers and media buyers preparing creator content for TikTok advertising through an agreed agency account arrangement.
1. Agree on the post, rights and campaign scope
Before exchanging a code, agree which post will be used, by which advertiser and for what campaign period. Review the offer, destination and any commercial rights outside the authorization screen. An available post or downloadable video is not permission to advertise it.
Keep the final creative, approved copy, intended identity and landing page together in your review record. If several creators or agencies are involved, label the records clearly so the media buyer does not pair one creator’s permission with another post.
3. Select the authorized content in Ads Manager
Complete the campaign and ad-group decisions first: objective, destination, event source, audience, budget and schedule. In the creative-selection flow, locate TikTok posts or the relevant authorized identity, then choose the intended post. TikTok provides separate instructions for Manual / Search and Smart+ flows; menu names and automation controls can differ.
When entering a video code, inspect the returned post rather than relying only on a successful lookup. Compare the creator identity, caption, video and authorization window with the review record. Verify the destination and tracking choices before submitting the ad. Finding the post is only the authorization checkpoint.
4. Review creative constraints before publication
TikTok’s guidance says an authorized post’s caption cannot be edited afterward. Agree the wording before authorization. Review the current rules about post visibility during promotion and explain them to the creator before launch; do not use an ad launch as a test of whether private content becomes visible.
An illustrative preflight record might read: creator approved the intended post; campaign dates are covered; destination matches the offer; the buyer reviewed the correct identity. This is an example of a review record, not confirmation that any particular creator or account has approved your ad.
- Review the final caption and visual content before requesting authorization.
- Confirm the planned end date is within the authorized period.
- Keep content rights and platform ad review as separate checks.
5. Use the actual error to choose the next check
Copy the error name and time into a private issue record, without the authorization code. TikTok distinguishes expired permission, missing ad permissions, post visibility and other content problems. Repeatedly pasting the same code will not resolve a different underlying condition.
On a narrow screen, scroll the table sideways to compare.
| Error / symptom | Next check | Who can help |
|---|---|---|
| auth_code_expired | Ask for an authorization period covering the intended campaign | Creator or the authorized account contact |
| 900010 / campaign ends after authorization | Compare the scheduled end with the permission window | Creator and media buyer |
| user_permission_missing | Confirm the operator’s ad permissions for this setup | The account administrator |
| not_public_video | Review the post’s current visibility and TikTok’s requirements | Creator |
| auth_code_error | Check the code and intended post through the trusted contact | Creator and media buyer |
6. Separate authorization, review and delivery
After submitting, reopen the saved ad in the same account. Check the selected post, identity, destination, schedule and status. A valid authorization code does not mean the ad passed review; a review decision does not establish that impressions have started.
For website campaigns, separately verify the intended Pixel or Events API signal. Then compare delivery and results over a defined reporting window. Record what is confirmed and what remains pending instead of describing a successful code lookup as a successful launch.
7. Plan renewal and handover
Record who will watch authorization expiry and contact the creator if the campaign needs to continue. Before renewing, confirm that the offer, destination and creator agreement still match the planned use. Do not treat last month’s permission as an unlimited future arrangement.
When ending or handing over the campaign, agree which records the next operator needs and let the authorized owner review access. AdsGorilla account support, creator rights and campaign management are separate scopes; confirm what your plan includes. No account service removes TikTok’s advertising requirements.
